Summer Book Club News

2013-14 Meeting SCHEDULE/CALENDAR
We had a lot of fun discussing ideas for future meetings.  Here is what is coming up:

October 24-"The Woman in White" by Wilkie Collins Hostess: Beth West

March 27(?)-Beth West is getting tickets to BYU's production of "Pride and Prejudice".  If you'd like to go, please reply as she is able to buy a block of 15 tickets now before the rest of the public is able.  She works in the ticket office there.  Will send more info soon.  As always, you don't have to be a "regular" to come to this.  We need 15 people to commit asap.  Tell your friends and neighbors.  Girls only please.  It is Austen after all.

NOTES
Having the books so far ahead gives you the chance to get holds for them at the library, find them at used book stores, check out half.com for books for pennies (really!), or order them all at the same time from amazon.com and save on shipping.  You can also check them out in audio formats which is also a fun way to get the books read in time while you are driving kids all over town or commuting to work.  There's more than one way to read a book!

Michele Stitt will be back in town in December, so we are trying to hold our book club meeting so she can join us.  As soon as we know if she can, we'll confirm the date for that month.

We are debating having another meeting where we invite husbands.  We'd love to know your thoughts for those who weren't there last night.  If we did this, bringing a husband along would not be mandatory, just an option.  We have some fun ideas for books, having the wives read "Into Thin Air" and the husbands read "The Climb", two books written with totally different viewpoints about what happened on that fatal climb of Mt Everest a few years ago.  It would make for some VERY lively and interesting discussion!

FEEDBACK REQUESTED
We've been at this a long time, you are always welcome to come even if you haven't read or finished the book!  The more the merrier!  I would love to know your thoughts about husbands being invited to a meeting in 2014, if you are interested in attending the play in March, and any other items that you are thinking about.  You are always welcome to come, bring a friend, and invite others.  Don't forget that I update the blog once a month so if you lose this email and can't remember what is coming up, you can always check there.  Bookmark it so you can find it again.  theclassicsbookclub.blogspot.com

SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL 2014
I had a chance to talk to President Nilson about our stake conference conflicts we've had the last two years.  I have very good news!  Next year stake conference will be AFTER LABOR DAY!!!  We can go back to the weekend school starts!  Hooray!  PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDAR NOWWWWWWWW!  August 22-23, 2014
